It’s not what you said. You’re allowed to have preferences and you’re allowed to have your own beliefs about modesty, and to be with someone that shares in those beliefs. It’s the way you said it that reveals shitty attitude towards women. You imply that all women should act in accordance to your beliefs and that they are somehow lesser for not being up to your wifey material standards. The world doesn’t need conform to you. From my experience,I personally agree with that sentiment. A lot of parents and parents to be put a lot on their kids that doesn’t need to be there, many don’t understand how much work it will be, and a lot put in much less work than they should.

It sounds like you are or would be an engaged parent to know it’s a lot of work to raise a little individual, but there are many people from many backgrounds.

However, If you compare it to other media popular for it’s target audience, it’s very much in line with the attitude and humor. Television shows like Fleabag and Insecure, books like Ottessa Moshfegh’s My Year of Rest and Relaxation or Raven Leilani’s Luster. If you are enjoying or following this movement in art, and are a part of that conversation, you would probably think it’s good, funny, interesting.

I disagree that her character wasn’t showing growth. Idk what you think she should have grown towards, but she was making decisions (good and bad, like humans do) and living with those consequences. It feels like there was a bigger arch they were building towards that we just didn’t get to yet.

But I get that part of it is objective. For me and my experience, I would say she was showing growth.

This is where the conversation of “misogyny” comes in. Its not for you, so its “bad.” It’s okay that the humor wasn’t for you. Not everything is for me, and not everything has to be for you. I think that show was trying to bring in people that were not the mcu normal demographic. For someone whose hunor and tatses are a little different. I watched that show with friends that aren’t into marvel at all and enjoyed it.

But maybe there were too few like me whose ven diagram of intrest and experience converged where that show was trying to live.

I didn’t think it was bad at all. I think some people just didn’t like the humor. I enjoyed the whole season. To me, the storytelling was solid: the pacing was good, charachters were fleshed out with solid motivations, and the humor was topical and stemmed from the charachters motivations. I see how it can feel out of place from the rest of disneys marvel, but, tbh, I feel like it was just a lot of misogyny. It was girl humor so it was deemed lesser, silly, not as important as the rest of the mcu.

If you’re implying race is the issue, while that could be a factor (as it often is,) I would argue that Cosby was the central draw to his show. It was his personality, his comedy and literally his name that drove that show. If you “cancel” Cosby, you “cancel” the Cosby Show.

Masterson’s charachter, while important, isn’t central. That 70’s show is an ensemble, focusing more on POV of Topher Grace if you were to point ti one charachter.

Should we choose not to consume the entire show because one person who worked on the show turned out problematic? Is race the factor to why one was taken down and not the other. Maybe the influence of scientology, maybe as culture we are less focused on “cancel culture” (whatever that term means to you.) I don’t really know.
