      That’s not what happened though. Basically with the KMT crushed peasants started taking back the land to redistribute.

      The CPC was like well it would be undialectical and reactionary to oppose this, especially given the peasantry is the foundation of our support, you guys knock yourself out and we’ll sort it out when the dust settles.

      Depending on how hated you were, the peasants might kill you, your family etc. Or if you weren’t too bad they might just send you into exile/internal displacement.

      And in the rare cases if a landlord was popular, they’d be like cool you keep the big house see you tomorrow to work the fields with everyone. Or else.
