Complaints about Hexbear in Hexbear defederation posts often talk about emoji size. Even complaints about PPB are usually talking about how big it is. And I mean it’s true, that emoji, among others, is massive on non-Hexbear instances.
Obviously PPB and the rest of our culture is cool and good, but it is silly to be defederated because of an emoji scaling bug. Surely we can find cooler reasons to be defederated

We should increase the size here too.
We used to be able to use markup to make the emojis bigger, plus you could italicized them. I swear to god I’m not just hallucinating this, it was funny as hell

I’d like to have another massive emoji, but this one would be a giant Garfield drinking coffee out of a mug that says “I HATE MONDAYS”. Surely people wouldn’t take issue with that, right? Who do we need to talk to to make this happen?

The varying emoji size and dimensions can make it really difficult to read posts, as an outsider. I also think the problem might be exacerbated by different clients. Jerboa for instance really does not like y’all.

When it was first uploaded it was so big not only did the image get messed up it took down the whole site for like a day.
We didn’t have images or embedding for like a good week after while the issue was fixed. IIRC the person responsible immediately confessed and wasn’t punished for it, but I don’t remember who it was.
It was hilarious. The entire community would have revolted if they got punished.
It’s funny when you don’t need to deal with it, sure, but even as a Hexbear native it’s honestly really annoying cause you can’t read shit
