At least for me, Mastodon replaced Twitter and Lemmy replaced Reddit. But then, I’m not “normal” and find the Fediverse to be endlessly fascinating.

I get the same sense. It has somewhat of a nostalgic “we’re all in this together” feeling that using the internet in the mid/late-90’s had, and the updoots appear to be a side-effect of that.

It’s still around, and has undergone some… renewed interest. It’s super slick now, and they’re working on bringing a version of it to android (using K-9 Mail as a base.)
