Welp. Three days later and I’ve worked with a Rivage PM5 and a RPio rack. That thing is awesome. The preamps sound much more musical. These guys were driving them hard and they saturate instead of clip. The silk is really cool and I had no idea that there are Bricasti reverbs built in. But most of all I like the layout and how the channel strips are more conventional.
Honestly im not a fan of the CL. At least not for music. Its not very fast. Theres lots of digging around for stuff. Theres no compensation for latency, so you have to make a clean/wet bus if you are doing those things and be careful with effects. Its like a church or theater console to me. But i work on them a lot too lol. Id really like to try a rivage though. Havent seen them on any tours yet but have heard the sound and preamps are way better. It might have been Rupert Neves last design? I dunno.
Im just a live sound guy. I was throwing things in here cause theres no local live sound sub on the instance.
Haha me too! Once i get the hoop sorted i can start kicking it. Im a live sound engineer so ill be able to run it through a pretty massive l’acoustics system in the next two weeks. Not that my friend will be using it for that lol but it’ll be fun for me.
Side pic to show off the sweet drum spikes. I think they fit the retro vibe pretty good.
I honestly try not to buy anything Chinese, but there are so many great options from Japan at that price that it should be even easier to skip. Check out open heart seikos. No moon phase but beautiful dials.
Here? There was a pretty thriving marketplace on Reddit. Not sure why there couldnt be one here.
