Online music communities are weird so I don’t really use the social side, but does anybody else use Last.fm to track listening? Being able to look back at what I listened to and when is able to bring back some great memories and even explain things.
I started my last.fm at the tail end of my Ben Shapiro/SJWs owned phase. Seeing how listening to music (storytelling rap like Lupe) opened my mind up was cool. I started it years before I really started my mental trans journey, let alone the outward transition. Seeing how I’d express my femininity through artists like FKA Twigs or Arca before she came out. Lights On hit on so much of my feelings on gender. Or expressing the paranoia and discomfort of opiate+benzo+phenibut withdrawal through blasting Whole Lotta Red and Donda. Just getting invigorated from Teen X because of how insanely paranoid the instrumental felt. I know Kanye probably isn’t loved by people on here and I can’t blame you, but Donda’s themes of forgiveness and coming back hit particularly hard for me during the peak of my addiction. He’s a piece of shit, but you kinda need to hear from fellow pieces of shit to get better sometimes.
Anyways, remembering those emotions and those moments make music more powerful for me. Post last fms
id post mine if i wasnt scared of getting doxxed. but i’ve used it since 2006, before spotify i found a shitload of new bands in the Similar Artists section of Last.fm. It’s easier to see the list of bands that are similar that just listen to a spotify song radio. i dont really understand how last.fm still exists.
