There were some that left during the real hard times after the collapse of the USSR.
There was one at my work and we had a good long conversation about how you’re not really free in the US and in Cuba he felt far more free not trapped by rent and wage.

There’s a bunch of other major refugee groups undergoing active genocides just as big as the Palestinians. Nobody ever talks about them because they’re not adjacent to crackers and their adopted desert religion
