My friend recorded herself singing Nicki Minaj at one of our New Years Party. I decided to remix it and see what I can come up with.

Because I am just starting out, the mix/mastering of this track is a bit of a disaster.

I guess I am just wondering how the arrangement of the track flows for someone that is hearing this for the first time.

Also, does it make you want to dance/party? or skip the song and get some actual Nicki to play?

I like the flow of the track, nice job! My only note is the section at 0:50. I might try to improve that. Otherwise i was pumped to hear how good this was.

I’ve never heard the original but your remix did hold me captive, and i could easily imagine myself vibing to it if I wasn’t so tired right now lol

Thank you so much for the listen and feedback! it is greatly appreciated!

Here is the original if you ever wanted to check it out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SeIJmciN8mo

What would you recommend to improve the breakdown section at 0:50? Is there too much going on? Not enough cow bell? lol

Nah it isn’t that too much is going on. I feel that my ears need something dynamic to follow, but the section isn’t dynamic enough. for example, there is a synth pad on a slow crescendo, and it might be my speakers but I don’t think it’s prevalent enough, and it might not start early enough.

There just has to be a more prevalent element sort of “leading the charge” during those 8 bars. I hope that makes sense?

        sorry for the long delay

I wish it were longer. I am always a critic of the cliches such as the record slowing down at the end, but otherwise, it’s a hit to me.

Thank you so much for the feedback! I really should find the project file and work on it again.

How would you have gone about ending it?

There are a couple different routes to take. You can add a delay to the last word of the song and let it fade out. You can tack on another quick sample such as a quote from Nicki Minaj or something. Or it can simply end abruptly. These are in order of my preference from most to least likely that I would do it.
