I review flashlights and other gear at https://zakreviews.com/
@vladmech I can endorse that plan!
@SubArcticTundra Those can be used as headlamps, handheld, and for most of them, magnetic work lights.
@flashlight

Later changes:
December 27: added Wurkkos HD10
I put it in an Acebeam Pokelit Ti and tested runtime on high. There was a considerable improvement: 190 minutes instead of 166.
@MangoPenguin @flashlight None of those offer a product that competes with this.
That seems to be a Li-ion battery with silicon added to the anode. My guess is this is not that, just incremental improvement; until recently, 14500 fell far short of the energy density of 18650. Now it’s near parity, keeping in mind a smaller volume inherently means more weight in the metal housing.
@evasive_chimpanzee I like silicone diffusers better than plastic ones.
Adding red to the flashlight limits options. The Skilhunt EC200S offers a red secondary, but it has a very floody beam, which doesn’t add as much versatility to the overall setup as something more focused.
@technomad @flashlight
Maybe the FC11C, unless you need secondary LEDs on the side, then maybe the Sofirn IF24 Pro.
@flashlight@lemmy.world @flashlight@kbin.social Nitecore’s own post about this lists five models: UHi 10, 20, 40, 50, and 100.
@SammysHP @flashlight I’m sure we’ll know when it actually comes out. Their “tailor-made” language suggests they’re having a manufacturer produce a bespoke design for them.
I’m sure Nitecore hasn’t build their own semiconductor fab just to make an LED, but smaller manufacturers might be up for semi-custom runs.
@solrize How would you like the index to be structured? Currently, there are tags and it wouldn’t be hard to use them to make some sort of index.
I’ve had the Mastodon comments for a while, but nobody commented until I (and many others) started using Lemmy. I modified this code and should probably update it:
https://carlschwan.eu/2020/12/29/adding-comments-to-your-static-blog-with-mastodon/
@solrize it’s an issue for all the Skilhunt lights with magnetic charging. It’s not nearly as bad as when Olight did the same thing, but Olight fixed it.
@giant_smeeg the light itself.
@SammysHP @stavigoodbye No doubt the H150 will go in my headlamp rotation.
@rbd22 Odd indeed. I imagine they didn’t like what I had to say in my review, but they had the option of terminating the affiliate account before anybody used it.
@Zak success!
@MashedPotatoJeff I’ve had airport security in various countries look at flashlights with curiosity, but never had a problem. Security in Italy wanted me to take the batteries out of a 4x18650 light I had in my carry-on.
@beaconsoul @flashlight You have successfully posted to Lemmy from Mastodon.
For people new to this federation thing, Dan has posted using Mastodon, software that resembles Twitter and speaks the same ActivityPub protocol that Lemmy, which resembles Reddit uses. I’m also replying using Mastodon.
The user experience tends to be smoother federating between software that’s more similar, but it’s nice that it’s possible even when they’re pretty different.
@solrize The TS10 is already on the list, in the enthusiast section. I think that’s the right place for it because it trips USB-charging 14500s, doesn’t have onboard charging, doesn’t take AA, throttles hard on max, and uses Anduril. I don’t have a hard set of criteria for it, but that’s a lot of non-mainstream traits in one light. My SP10 Pro runs on Eneloops, and it’s one of the highest output lights I’ve seen on 1xAA with 403 lumens and good regulation.
The SC13A is mentioned as a variant of the SC13. Currently, it’s priced quite a bit higher, which diminishes one of the most compelling things about the SC13.
I’ll think about something from the DL25 series. I see there’s a version with deep red now, and there’s some merit to that.
Added HD10, enthusiast section for now. The USB charging might get it moved to mainstream later.
Noted about the Tube.
I’m not adding a 3xAAA headlamp with a bad UI no matter how cheap it is.
I’m hoping they’ll do a bit work work on the TS10 Max. I believe a buck driver was part of the original plan.
