Might have been true during the Roman era or even during the 1930s but in the age of mass communication, a generally informed or disinformed population (depending on how you want to see it), multi national corporations who really don’t care about nations and all mixed in with nuclear weapons … things will be much different. Whether or not that difference will be better or worse is anyone’s guess. But it will be something completely different.
Just aim it in the general direction of your target and if you don’t hit them at least you’ll permanently damage their hearing

Popcorn machine from 1978 still going strong after being fixed and repaired by me three times now. I bought one new modern popcorn machine because it was on sale … it burnt out in two months and the built in electronics were designed to never be fixed. The old 1978 unit is basically just a blower motor operated by switch, controlled by a simple thermostat attached to a heating coil … every part is easily accessible and can be fixed … all of it easily repairable, fixable and parts replaceable.

That is the single most disgusting uninteresting uninformative and ugliest thing that anyone can text me. You can text me a dick pick, ransom demands, blackmail images, racist crap or gore pictures of something and I wouldn’t complain and probably might even respond to you … but if you just text me ‘CALL ME’, I’m blocking your number or contact and never answering anything from you again.
He’s telling people in the room about everything about buying oceans, what it mean, how great it is, he has all the evidence in this computer, he’s reading all this great stuff about buying oceans, he’ll get China to pay for it, yadda, yadda … and the computer hasn’t even been turned on or plugged into anything.
Tabloid magazine? … it’s more like scribbled pieces of paper written by random strangers on the sidewalk … people keep reading the crap and walk away happy that their worst beliefs have just been confirmed by 100 random strangers with scribbled pieces of paper who told them so.
Enshitification? … at this point it’s all dissolving into that putrid liquid dumpster juice.

Fascism is on the match. The problem is not that they are on the move. The problem is that many of us just join the march but caring about what we are doing … or not doing.
