I still can’t believe this movie flopped at the box office and almost ended John carpenter’s career. It’s an amazing whodunnit with the thing being able to be anyone at anytime. I watch it once a year when it’s really cold and snowing.

Definitely. I love this movie and I think it’s a great heavy character driven story. I believe it is something that everyone should watch once, at the very least. After all these years I’m still undecided on whether I would vote guilty or not guilty, there’s a lot to consider in the case and the jurors all have their flaws which makes it more interesting than just “juror good, juror bad”.
Pretty good. Things are going well for me recently. I’m ready for the good times to keep coming and if they don’t, it’s fine.
3700 hours. You must have committed a lot of crimes against humanity.
That’s fair. Personally I should have called it quits when they started including pocket in the browser, but better late than never.
It may be overblown but I am seriously tired of the way Mozilla is being run. The CEO has a $7 million salary. Big red flags always appear each time they increase the salary also. May be a bit hyperbolic but that’s why I’m just using another fork after 20 years
Developers want to cash out. Company going public. Will most likely have to do some things to keep investors happy, involving what is now known as enshittification.
I’m gonna put forward an uncommon weapon. Counter strike’s Zeus. I have 5000+ hours in csgo/cs2 and I have enjoyed the times when me and some friends have Zeused the enemy team more than any other kind of gameplay. You can jump around inferno apps, out of windows, up through windows, in and around boiler, on balcony while boosting a mate. Hide on the boxes on site and jump down to short. Same with nuke.
I am sure you mean Phil Connors, but I would happily be one of the greatest singers of all time, even for a day.
Probably Groundhog Day. At least everything is genuine, whereas the Truman show is very much staged. Both are hell but at least I have the hope of waking up each day well rested and ready to learn new skills, not sure how the magic works with memory retention though…
I finally moved house so I have a new space for writing, which I’ll be doing later after I’ve been to the barbers. The area has a huge historical value, there is a haunted (supposedly) manor nearby, and an abandoned church that’s been for sale as long as I can remember. Behind my house there are many gardens and parks.
If you fancy another animated classic there is “ghost in the shell (1995)”, that’s assuming you haven’t already seen it. Wasn’t a fan of akira myself but appreciate the art from it. However, I love ghost in the shell.
I’m not a fan of mastodon because it really does feel a lot like other social media sites, I don’t really like any form of advertising, whether it’s intentional or unintentional. People post too much bullshit trying to gain followers. I never cared much for twitter/facebook/instagram anyway.
Lemmy however is a better replacement for Reddit, so far. I remember when Reddit was the replacement and now look at it, a big steaming pile of ads and bots, power tripping admin and moderators, killed 3rd party apps that made the site useable. Hopefully lemmy can remain the same as it is now.
I was basing what I said on the http.py file:
while True:
try:
# Download and write
data_block = ctx.data.read(block_size if not is_test else min(block_size, data_len - byte_counter))
except TransportError as err:
retry(err)
byte_counter += len(data_block)
I might still be wrong but that’s how I thought it downloaded any video file over http
Edit. After reading the code a bit more I see that you were correct.
yt-dlp streams those chunks into the final file tbh so it should be fine.
I was wrong about this part. I doubt the isp would do anything about it though, just for different reasons
I believe the request to the server is the same as if you were watching it. It just runs the file from their server to your browser, with yt-dlp it sends a request to the server file the same way a browser does. You can view the source code which is well commented if you are able to understand python. The function is in yt-dlp/downloader/http.py
After rereading the code, it’s not quite the same but I wouldn’t worry about the isp
It’s more a reflection on them than you but don’t put up with it. People will treat you like a doormat, doesn’t mean you need to be rude back but firmly tell them that you are not a punching bag and that you won’t be listening to them anymore. Probably best to avoid speaking with them unless it’s purely work related and any bad reaction can be reported to management. If it’s not dealt with do what you can to get out of there.
“Ak47s for everybody”
Oh man. Generals was the last game that me and some friends played on lan together. Many many hours of fun. Sadly those days are long gone.
I can finally upload images so enjoy my cat looking peaceful. She is often a pain in the ass but I love her dearly.
