I would presume that they are talking about the federal bill Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation Shab-eh-nay Band Reservation Settlement Act of 2023 and one in Illinois. If I’m understanding this correctly, after over a 100 years the Potawatomi band right to sovereignty as guaranteed by a 200 year old treaty is being debated in both the US congress and Illinois congress.

I suspect that trauma is being a tool of reactionaries to create more reactionaries. Imagine starving and having the media tell you it’s because of X-men (lgbt+, other race, other religion, ect). European elites told their citizens that god was punishing them because the Jews in the 15th(?) century, so the Jews were expelled. Over time the elite began to realize they could escape judgement for poor leadership and remain unquestioned as long as there was an “other” they could blame and punish. The leadership did not wish to be judge, so the leadership found a scapegoat.

During the rise of industrialization through capitalism, they need more scapegoats, so they found more. By indicating to people that wealth and private property were signs of good morals, they were able to claim a moral high ground in the eyes of the traumatized. So by spreading this logic in areas where the population hadn’t yet recovered from a shock, they are able to spread fascism. Lots of countries have dealt with trauma without turning fascist. Trauma can absolutely help create fascists though.

Trauma to create fascism is basally a few steps:

Step 1:

Man made trauma, economic, drug wars, colonization, slavery, cyclical capitalist crisis, war, disease

Step 2:

Blame the poor, or other, and flaunt wealth, so they know that the holder of the wealth is the good guy, not a thief.

Step 3:

Tie aid for recovery to demonstration of fascists ideas so that only fascists can thrive.

It’s hard to win because malice and disregard for the truth are often hard to prove, and loosing the case can be more damaging. It has however one of the few I ways I know of to convince people that reporters got it wrong.

Instead of the ADL we should promote organizations like Jewish Voice for Peace.

I didn’t mean to suggest that we should promote them, but to understand the power they wield. Obviously promoting the Jewish Voice for Peace is important as well.

Best case scenario we would simply be replicating the Soviet idea of having a Jewish Autonomous Oblast, and while they also meant well when they implemented that, i’m not sure how effective it actually was in protecting Jewish people.

I’m not sure about the JAO of the soviet union either, the stats I found on it made it seem like a non starter. Probably also not great to suggest they go to Siberia, given the things imperialists like to say about it.

I would of course prefer to make sure my country remains a safe space for all religions, in all cities and regions. That would be ideal.

Perhaps it would be better to simply have a guaranteed right that those facing hateful or classical antisemitism can receive asylum here? I’m not sure what the best answer is, I definitely see your point though.

Let me be clear, what Palestinians are going through is infinitely worse. I just wanted to say that this is also an attack on the diaspora.

Many Jewish people believe the lies of the oppressive regime, because they fear being exiled as they have been many times in the past, throughout Europe. It happened so often that it’s an action in crusader kings. They are in denial, and it’s easy to understand why, they depend on that area as an escape hatch in case history repeats itself. JAO has made a similar promise, however there is still a mistrust because it’s in a nation that has had issues with Jews. Many people let fear guide their actions because they have no hope. I say this not to justify their support but to explain it, because empathy is a super power.

The children of Gaza should not have to loose their parents and siblings because some failsons couldn’t stop a prison break. Hamas has accepted the burden of the deaths of festival goers, though I suspect many of the bullets that struck them down were not from Hamas guns. Hamas does not have tanks, yet tanks were apparently in the destruction of at least one kibbutz. All sides seem to hostages are being held in Gaza, and it’s been deprived of food, water and power for 2 weeks. Are we suppose to believe that Hamas rather than bombs being dropped at a rate of more than one a minute, is killing them?

Holy places are suppose to be free of violence. The current rulers of the holy land don’t seem to believe that. They literally claim Palestine never existed and it was a land without a people, nothing could be further from the truth. Israel didn’t exist before 1948 outside of religious texts. Before the area was designated as Palestine it was Judea. Romans decided to expel the people living there.

Don’t cry for Gaza, we won’t let you die.

If China decided to declare a region like the JAO, I think the state in the holy lands would have a lot less power.

Being stateless is no good. Historically many nations have made Jews stateless. Stateless people are barely allowed to exist. This is why some jewish people look to that government as a security blanket.

Their power comes from fear, ours comes from hope. Those kids in gaza will need our support for a long time no matter what. This is the worst shelling of a civilian population since ww1. I don’t want to believe, I’ve seen footage of great heroics though. The medical staff is truly top notch, how the fuck did they keep all that up? I have beyond respect for those people.

Thinking that their security blanket could be genocidal is absurd to them. It obliviously is but they don’t see that. The JAO is the obvious answer, but USain Jews seem to still think Russia bad. Not worth suggesting Russia has had some bad pogroms. China giving the jewish people a few acres would likely tip a balance of power.

Regardless the bombing has to stop.
