Google support is a joke, I had to RMA a tablet, obviously went through all the troubleshooting before (factory reset included). The dude on the Hotline was like: “fantastic you did everything I would have told you. Unfortunately our system doesn’t accept that way of working I need to send you an email with the same troubleshooting steps you already did and you need to call again in a few minutes and confirm to a new support agent that you followed what the email told you”

To their credit it was accepted afterwards with no issues but that whole process is more than braindead

Will there be a premium app in the store? I recall the reddit version with IAP periodically having issues with purchases not being recognized. I’d rather spend my money on that then.

If cloning something by rewriting it would be an issue the GNU utils would have the same problem since they’re also just clones of proprietary Unix commands that the GNU project doesn’t own

This really has nothing to do with being lazy, a lot of modern software just straight up isn’t supported anymore on such old systems. Making it compatible and testing it on those old platforms makes no business sense at all. Far too expensive with little to no benefit overall.

If anyone is to blame here it’s the phone manufacturers that don’t provide updates to those devices.
