AP’s tweet is the source my title and - as you can see - it’s far better than the article’s headline.
BREAKING: A white man fatally shot three Black people, then himself, at a Jacksonville, Florida, Dollar General store in what officials described as a hate crime.
The coolest part of having lived in so many parts of the country is being able to go “oh yeah I know where that is” on like every fifth mass shooting or so
That’s depressing as hell.
That’s my life.
I don’t personally know anyone who has been shot or killed in a mass shooting, but I’ve been to Club Q. I’ve been to the movie theater in Aurora. I’ve been to the King Soopers that got shot up. Shit, I was born in Jacksonville, I know the area very well. Kings Road.
I’m sure everyone here can empathize, but when I say what I say, it’s the truth. I look at all these places and I just go for fucks sake, that could have been me, I’ve literally been there.
I feel like a walking zombie most days - I’d say “walking dead” but i dont think that really gets the point across with the tv show and all that. I feel like I’m always one minute away from being murdered, because by sheer virtue of all the places I’ve been, it’s like it’s constantly following me.
If Edgar Allan Poe was alive to day and he saw your comment - he might write a story called Death Follows Me. And there would be no need for the supernatural or monsters or devils. Present day America has vile people, mass shooters, and terrorists as substitutes.
