I just noticed that
- people don’t read my comments as much here as on Lemmy so I get way fewer replies
- someone replied to me and I didn’t see it in my notifications, even after tapping Notifications, so I had to go to the thread where he replied to me, check out all my 10+ comments, and see that one of them had a reply. I saw no other way to find this.
Yeah the fact that was not on by default was weird, it’s kinda needed for good interaction between people.
You probably want to go and check your settings - scroll to the bottom and check which boxes you have ticked. I think by default mine was only set to notify me if I had replies on MY OWN posts, but not if someone replied to one of my comments on someone else’s post.

My last ones are from 6 days ago. :(
Seems like the one I was referring to was actually a pinging of my username and not a reply notification.Do you have reply notifications turned on in your account settings?
I believe the relevant setting for notifications of replies like this one is the second from the top, unchecked.
Maybe I’m too dumb to understand the notification setting but which options do I tic to get it to display notifications like it would on reddit. In other words, on my comments I’ll get any direct replys, but on threads I post myself, I get notified of all top level comments, but not the replies to those comments.
Swap 1 with 2. 2 means you would get notifications in a thread submitted by you, by people replying to comments from other people.
Ok. I’ll give that a go. That’s the one thing I don’t want.
Do you have your notifications enabled in the Settings tab of your account? If you click on your account name and select Settings, on the General tab underneath the Writing and Privacy sections should be the notification section to choose what to enable.
