    Imagine you’ve been kept isolated and ignorant by an undermined education system, geographically and social media algorithm bubbled, limited economic prospects, and normalized extreme right wing propaganda you get these feelings like you would be morally justified in spreading your particular view to others by force to ‘save’ them or society or whatever. It’s not uniquely American, it’s the same right wing, nationalistic, authoritarian rhetoric used as everywhere else, it’s just more religious believing countries tend to be more susceptible to this type of authoritarian ideology rhetoric because it usually uses the same language and feelings as religious belief.

    It’s reactionary to more moderate conservatism losing popular support to right wing populism since their peak in the 80s they grow more extreme, same thing is happening in many American churches as the more liberal, less fundamentalist believers leave. There was a recent Methodist schism along those lines for example.
