    This keeps getting reposted, and it’s bullshit.

    Of COURSE Google can do something! They can actually validate claims before acting om them, but thay would require responsibility on their part.

    Fuck Google.

      Doesn’t this force Google to do something though? If there’s loads of spam fake takedowns, it should eventually force their hand.

        Nope. There’s no penalty to them for processing likely-invalid DMCA notices. There is civil liability to the person filing false notices, but any enforcement is unlikely.

          No penalty legally, but if popular videos start getting taken down, that’s cutting into their ad revenue.

        No. YT can take things down and their legal responsibility ends. Right or wrong, it’s legally safe. So they DGAF.
