As the title states, more variety, and lots of new posts are getting basically ignored, even some highish effort ones.

That’s what I’ve discovered as well. The active sort tends to stay the same for me for hours and hours and hours
In Jerboa you can set the default sort mode in settings. I assume you can do the same on the web site.

doubt it, but users can set their default sort type from active to new in the settings
I’m browsing all by new right now. I might try local later though.
Sorting by Hot also works pretty well, good mix of new posts and popular ones
