I almost exclusively browse lemmy through the jerboa app. I love having the “all communities” tab so I can browse outside my instance. However, recently when I go to the All tab ans sort by “hot”, I’m getting the same posts every day. They’re now over a week old. When I sort by “new”, it does grab new posts from everywhere, but since most of these are only a couple minutes old, there’s not a lot of interaction on them.

Does anyone know why this is happening?

If your home instance is on BE 17.4 this is a bug with active and hot scores. This is fixed in BE 0.18.0, but many instance owners are holding back until 0.18.1 when Captcha support is implemented (so bots don’t flood in). You can check the BE version (back end version) of your instance on the website at the bottom.

Good news is that as of this morning the Captcha code was merged into the main branch on GitHub, so I expect 0.18.1 to come likely this week. If you are on 0.17.4, for now just sort by new and hold tight for your instance to update

Thanks for the explanation. My instance is indeed on 17.4. For now, sorting by top day is totally fine, I’m not on here so frequently that I need a new feed every hour.

I just use “top day” for relatively new content, then when that’s done I switch to New

I don’t know what’s been going on with it, but for a while it was logging me into random accounts when I was switching between my own it would say I am using my account but when I went to the profile section it would display a random one

I was having the same issues and it saying the server was the wrong version. I switched to Connect and it seems to be working better.
