Why would they? They’re a private company, the government has absolutely zero business interfering in a labor dispute with private companies, unless of course they want to acknowledge that they do have power over private businesses like these to regulate them. In which case they should fucking nationalize them and throw the execute board in jail.

I very much dislike how the administration handled the rail strike. But it is worth noting the outcome of that

        https://www.reuters.com/world/us/most-unionized-us-rail-workers-now-have-new-sick-leave-2023-06-05/

It is fucking bullshit to the highest extreme that four days of PSL is a major win but… yeah.

The admin didn’t abandon the workers. They definitely took away their strongest weapon, but there are also arguments that that was the right thing to do. Because if UPS goes on strike? The entire country is shutting down. And we, the people, are too stupid to understand the reason for the strike and will instead just blame the people pissing in bottles for not working harder (this country DOES have a long history of demanding brown people work harder…).

That said: Rail workers are too “in the background” for people to notice and we have been conditioned to expect “supply chain” problems. Whereas UPS et al are the folk we see every day. So maybe a strike will actually work because people will see where the chain fell apart rather than just “Ugh. Fucking Mom and Pop’s hardware has no screws”

Yeah I think the outcome and follow up from the administration should definitely be noted with the rail workers situation.

Conservatives fight against progress at every possible turn and we blame everyone else for not getting past the roadblocks those fuckers have put up.

Yup, they should have nationalized those assholes for continuing to drive railroads into the ground. They’re run by bsolute total incompetents

They interfered when the rail workers went on strike, why wouldn’t they interfere with UPS? They’re both logistics corporations, and the whole point with the rail strike interference was to keep goods moving to where they need to be.
