I have been thinking about the Cerveza Crista edit of Star Wars: A New Hope that sporadically splices in beer ads and the Toy Story 3 edit alternate ending where they fall into the incinerator and it made me wonder if people have come across these kind of joke versions, in full, in the wild.
It seems like a majority of the time it’s just short clips being made and reposted.
I’m not talking about the edits of movies where they do things like decrease the speed of the audio so it gradually desyncs from the rest of the movie or when they replace the entire movie with the Limewire Bill Clinton ad.
Oh man… Have you ever heard of Wizard People, Dear Reader?
I found this genius interpretation of the first Harry Potter film by Brad Neely probably about 15 years ago via some random torrents. It has lived rent-free in my mind ever since.
I was always disappointed Neely never did a follow-up, he had claimed to be working on a follow-up in the same style but doing Jurassic Park instead.
That is definitely an interesting one.
I thought it was just going to be a mash up of clips. Can you really just replace the audio track with it?
This also reminded me. I think I have a copy of the Harry Potter with guns edit Harry Potter and the Deadly Weapons around somewhere.
Back when it was released, you had to match up the audio to an official DVD so Neely could avoid being sued.
Multiple fan edits that overlay the new audio on the DVD rip exist at this point. No more needing to match them up.
But yeah, it’s essentially the full movie dubbed over with someone reading aloud as though it was a audiobook.
That’s a neat approach. I suppose I have seen it done to a lesser extent with YouTubers doing Mystery Science Theater style commentary now that I think about it.
In Italy there was an entire genre of redubbed movies with funny voiceovers.

Love everything from Brad Neely but haven’t been able to find this since reading about it several months ago. Thanks for reminding me I’ll have another look.
I’m gonna have to find this and watch the movie with it now.
