Sir Michael Caine is retiring from acting.

The 90-year-old actor confirmed his retirement — which comes after the Oct. 6 release of his latest, and now final, film The Great Escaper — in a new radio interview on Saturday.

"I keep saying I’m going to retire. Well, I am now,” Caine told BBC Radio 4’s Today show.

"I’ve figured, I’ve had a picture where I’ve played the lead and it’s got incredible reviews. The only parts I’m likely to get now are old men,” the acting legend explained. “…And I thought, well I might as well leave with all this — what have I got to do to beat this?”

Caine’s retirement announcement comes after he hinted at retiring in an interview with The Telegraph last month, where he discussed his new role in The Great Escaper, his age and said he was “sort of” retired.

Caine shared during his latest BBC Radio 4 interview that he believes it’s important old age is portrayed in movies, offering that as part of the reason he has kept acting up until now.

When asked if he would ever return to acting, Caine replied, “No. There’ll be writing. I’ll write another book sometime because I so enjoyed writing.”

Honestly, one hell of a career. I haven’t seen his films when he was younger, but I was still able to see him in movies and roles I really liked growing up

If you pronounce his name in his accent, it sounds like you’re saying “my cocaine”.

One of my favorite actors. He was absolutely amazing as Austin’s dad, a dastardly Dirty Rotten Scoundrel, and a benevolent Bartender who offers you life’s spilled milk.

I think this time around his retirement will stick lol. Doubt it though.

Recently I’ve been enjoying the Daily Michael Caine account on IG. The use the obstacle quote is bloody fantastic. A new favourite for me. There are also lots of other great tidbits on acting, stories of his career, and growing up. Amazing he’s been able to do it for so long. Many don’t even live to 90.

Oldest of his films that I’ve seen: Mr. Destiny

That’s probably not true, but I have to go to work and can’t read his IMDB.

    Badassatron retires, world weeps.

He played a trans woman once in a film which managed to be even more antagonistic to trans people than Silence Of The Lambs was.

Actors don’t write the scripts they perform. Actors do not believe the lines they say, they are not the people they portray. They are people getting paid to perform,

Acting is a job, and the vast majority of actors do not have the financial means to pick and chose.

I do not know the movie you are angry about, when was it made?

If you don’t see it in yourself, that is a bigger problem.

Over his career Mr Caine has appeared in 130 movies.

What were you hoping to achieve with your first comment by focusing on one role?

I do not know the movie you are angry about, when was it made?

This person is just a troll, you can feel free to ignore them cause they’re only trying to get a reaction out of people.

I knew that, sometimes it is better to counter their bullshit with a couple of replies. Not that I expect them to admit their trolling but for others reading the thread.

            What are you talking about?

People up and down this thread mentioning various roles of his.
You seem prickly about this one for some reason. Wonder why that is.

        Which film was this?

1980’s Dressed To Kill. There are less enjoyable films which talk out their ass on trans topics than this one. It is simply horrible, obviously, but parts of it are fun.

        You can watch it here.

Wiki says it’s a box office success with largely favourable reviews as well as best new actress and a Razzie for robocop’s partner, lol. Dunno how I deal with violence towards women even in movies to be honest as the short blurb says there is … but maybe I’ll see if I can carve some time out to see it.

Oh no like, there’s sexual violence to an extreme degree in that film. Don’t go in there unprepared for that.

The first scene is a sexual assault (not the last of the film), and it just ramps up from there.
With the murder, sexual exploitation, and comically bad trans rep it is slashy and trashy enough to slice right off the log.

I don’t know if this is some weird, standard response you give when you’re not sure how to respond to people, but nah, I’m good on the hug front.

I’ll attempt to help you out: when people don’t care about things you care about, it doesn’t mean they’re having a bad day. It simply means they don’t care about the things you care about.

Nah man, I get not everyone cares about what I care about. They tend to keep scrolling.

The dude who feels the need to draw attention to himself, spitting out “no one cares!” like a 3rd grade problem kid squealing “What a dwe~eeb” 'cause he doesn’t know how to make friends is probably having a bad day.

I’ll reiterate: Do you wanna talk about it?

Seems you want attention so what’s up?
Why you care so much announce how little you care about one of the dude being discussed’s roles?
