TL;DR: Singapore is expensive to explore, it is designed for work and study and not tourism.
Ever since the 2013 Little India Riot and the COVID-19 pandemic, nightlife in Singapore is declining. That means, there’s more interest in non-alcoholic options in bars, alcoholic drinks at home.
Drinking in Singapore bars will drain your bank account fast. It’s incredibly expensive
How much is a drink in USD? I tried skimming the article but couldn’t find it.
I’ve never visited Singapore.
Ten years ago, the cheapest beer in the cheapest bar was $15.

I don’t know dick about Singapore, but I wonder if longer working hours are a factor. Too lazy to open the article, though.
Nah, not necessarily. Singapore is more like a city-state reliant on export capital, including trade, and geopolitical position (that’s where it mainly gets its wealth), but it is not good for tourism, apparently.
It’s not like one of those labor market or resource comprador countries in the Global South; it’s more akin to Dubai, if it was a city-nation.
